Utopia 2020 Open-Back Headphones

Updated with a new package that includes an added balanced 4-pin XLR cable and an elegant rigid travel case, the Focal Utopia 2020 Open-Back Headphones employ 40mm pure-beryllium drivers in an M-shaped dome design to deliver highly accurate reference sound for audiophile listening in low-noise, home environments. These drivers allow Focal to forsake crossovers and passive filters for full-range audio speakers, located in the earcups, to provide an extended frequency response of 5 Hz to 50 kHz.

For committed, discerning sound enthusiasts, these open-backed, circumaural headphones offer a natural and realistic sound stage, precise sonic reproduction, and an ultra-comfortable fit built for hours of enjoyment. This design extends to the connections, cabling, and form factor. For instance, each of the two supplied cables attaches to the Utopia's earcups by means of two locking, shielded LEMO connectors. One cable is 4' in length and offers a 3.5mm TRS connection (a 3.5mm to 1/4" adapter is included). The second cable is 10' in length and features a 4-pin XLR connector for use with high-end headphone DACs and amplifiers such as the Focal Arche. Both cables are constructed with 24 AWG oxygen-free copper wiring.

The headband adjusts to accommodate a wide variety of head shapes and sizes, and the carbon-fiber yoke and leather padding provides hours of comfortable musical enjoyment without coloring the sound quality in any way. The earcups feature 20mm thick memory foam cushions upholstered in lambskin leather and microfiber fabric specially engineered to optimize sound quality and ensure a luxurious listening experience.
